Insights
Insights is a local safety overview that helps users understand potential risks within their vault.
VeilVault is a security-first, offline-only password vault developed by CodeVeil.
Insights exists to improve awareness, not to monitor behavior.
Purpose
Insights provides a high-level view of common password hygiene issues, such as reuse or weak credentials.
It is designed to help users:
- Identify avoidable risks
- Make informed decisions
- Improve overall vault safety
Insights does not evaluate user behavior beyond the contents of the vault.
How Insights Works (High-Level)
Insights analyzes vault entries locally on the device.
- No data leaves the device
- No results are transmitted or logged remotely
- No background tracking is performed
All analysis is derived solely from existing vault data.
What Insights Shows
Depending on vault contents, Insights may highlight:
- Reused passwords
- Reused usernames
- Reused username and password combinations
- Weak or low-entropy passwords
- General vault statistics (such as entry counts)
These indicators are informational, not enforcement mechanisms.
What Insights Does Not Do
Insights does not:
- Transmit data off-device
- Profile user behavior
- Rank or score users
- Enforce password changes
- Automatically modify vault entries
Insights is advisory only.
Privacy Characteristics
- Insights runs entirely offline
- No identifiers or telemetry are generated
- No historical tracking is performed
- Results reflect the current vault state only
Closing the app or locking the vault clears any active analysis state.
Limitations
Insights reflects only what is stored in the vault.
- It cannot assess passwords used outside VeilVault
- It cannot detect breaches or leaks
- It cannot determine if a password has been exposed elsewhere
Insights highlights structural risk, not external threats.
User Responsibility
Insights provides information, not instructions.
Users remain responsible for:
- Choosing strong passwords
- Avoiding reuse
- Deciding when and how to update credentials
VeilVault does not force changes based on Insights results.
